The SWIM-H2020 SM Project is committed to respect privacy of each user and comply with applicable laws on data protection and privacy. Processing of user’s personal data is governed by these terms, by the relevant provisions of EU legislation on data protection, including the General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) and the relevant local legislation, including decisions, guidelines and regulations.

This Privacy Statement (the “Statement”) forms an integral part and is incorporated into the Terms of Use of our Website and may be subject to modifications. This Statement explains how we collect, process and/or use information that we receive via our website and the emails we send (collectively, the “Website”), as amended from time to time. This Statement also describes how we collect, process, use and share the personal information you provide us with. It also describes your choices regarding use, access, transfer, correction and deletion of your personal information

Collection and use of personal information

Data for the SWIM-H2020 SM Project are collected by Ms. Lisa Papadogeorgaki only collects personal information through the on-line subscription to the Project’s newsletter (on the Project’s website), registration forms communicated via the project’s Focal Points in the partner countries or through your direct registration in the attendance lists distributed during our project’s events. The personal information collected in relation with SWIM-H2020 SM may include: your name, gender, date of birth, home and work address, country of residence and work, telephone number, passport number and details, your email address, your organisation’s name, your job title and your bank account details. We do not collect personal data or information for dissemination or sell to third parties for marketing purposes. We do not usually seek to collect sensitive personal information (i.e., data relating to race or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union memberships, political opinions, medical or health conditions or information specifying the sex life or sexual orientation of an individual) from users. We will, where necessary, obtain your explicit written consent to collect and use such information.

Your personal information is used for the following purposes:

  • Sending you communication material from our projects: newsletters, news releases
  • Sending you invitations to project events
  • Arranging your participation to the project events
  • Forming part of events reporting, which can be uploaded on the project’s website
  • Generating statistics about our project’s activities
  • Capacity building events’ impact assessment analysis
  • Future collaboration opportunities

The project is not using your personal information for other purposes, unless we obtain your permission, or unless otherwise required or permitted by law or professional standards.

The legal grounds for processing personal information

We will use your personal data for the purposes outlined above for one of the following reasons (if applicable): (a) of our legitimate interests in the effective delivery of our services to you; (b) of our legitimate interests in the effective and lawful operation of our business so long as such interests are not outweighed by your interests; (c) of the legal and regulatory obligations that we are subject to or (d) you have given us your explicit consent to process your personal data.

Disclosure to third parties

Your information may also be transferred to third party service providers who process information on the Project s behalf. As a result, your personal information may be transferred outside the country where you are located. This includes countries outside the European Economic Area and countries that do not have laws that provide specific protection for personal data.  In such cases, we will ensure that there are adequate safeguards in place to protect your personal data that are in compliance with applicable legislation.

By submitting your personal data online, you provide us the consent to the transfer of such data for the fulfilment of your voluntary requests.

The SWIM-H2020 SM Project will not transfer the personal information you provide to any third parties for their own direct marketing use

Protection of your personal information

We use a range of physical, technical and organizational measures to ensure that we keep your personal data secure, accurate and up to date. These measures include:

  • Awareness and training to relevant staff to ensure it is aware of our privacy obligations when handling personal data;
  • Technological security measures, including firewalls, encryption and anti-virus software;

Although we use appropriate security measures once we have received your personal data, the transmission of data over the internet (including by e-mail) is never completely secure.  We shall endeavor to protect your personal data, by any appropriate measure.

Data retention

Your personal information will only be retained until one year after the end of the SWIM-H2020 SM Project meaning on April 2020.

Users’ rights

  • Access to your personal data and information on which data do we process, the purposes of processing, the recipients and the duration of processing.
  • Rectification of your personal data if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
